PIVOT SCREEN RESIDENCE is a home designed for Ms. Komala and her family in Sampangi Ramanagara, Bangalore. Planned on a compact 800 sqft south-facing urban plot for a family of five, the residence responds to a dense neighborhood where houses closely adjoin each other, an urban condition often addressed through residential architecture planning in Bangalore to balance openness, privacy, and natural ventilation.

The Design Concept

The road-facing side becomes the primary source of light and ventilation for the house, while also directly facing another residence. The design therefore maximizes openings on this side while introducing pivot screens in the elevation to maintain privacy. These screens, combined with greenery and brick textures, create a layered facade that allows filtered light, controlled views, and a distinctive architectural identity for the home.
